Privacy policy
Right Ride (rightride.in) helps people in India compare cars, find the right variant and reach a nearby dealer. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the site, why we collect it, who we share it with and the choices you have.
The short version
- You don't need an account, and we never ask for your name, phone number or payment details.
- We count visits and clicks with GoatCounter and Google Analytics, and use Microsoft Clarity to see how people move around pages (clicks, scrolling and anonymised session replays), so we know which cars and features people find useful and what to fix.
- If you let us use your location, it stays in your browser. It isn't sent to us.
- We don't sell your personal data. Partners only ever see totals, such as "120 test-drive clicks for one car this month".
- Questions or requests: info@rightride.in.

1. What we collect
How you use the site
When you browse Right Ride we record:
- the pages you view, such as a car's page or the compare page;
- clicks on buttons that take you elsewhere: "Book a test drive", a dealer's phone number or website, "Watch the video review", "Read the review" and "Official site". For these we record which car, dealer or video channel was clicked, not who clicked it;
- technical details your browser sends with every request: device type, browser, operating system, screen size, language and the site that sent you here;
- your approximate location (city and country), which Google Analytics works out from your IP address.
Your location, only if you allow it
If you tap "Allow location", your browser shares your position with the page. We use it on your device to choose your state, so on-road prices include the right road tax, and to sort showrooms by distance. Your coordinates are saved in your browser so we don't have to ask again, but they are never sent to Right Ride or stored on any server. You can say no and pick your state by hand, and "Change" next to your location on the showroom list clears the saved position.
PIN codes
If you search for showrooms by PIN code, that PIN code is sent to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service to find where it is.
Emails you send us
If you write to info@rightride.in, we receive your email address, your message and anything you attach, so we can reply.
Feedback you send
If you use "Give feedback", we receive your answers and anything you write, with the time you sent them. The form doesn't ask for your name or email, so please don't include personal details in your message. Answers are stored in Google Forms and used only to improve Right Ride.
What we don't collect
We don't run accounts, sign-ups or payment forms. We don't ask for your name, phone number, address, government ID or financial details, and we don't knowingly collect sensitive personal data.
2. How we use it
- To run the site and remember your choices, such as your state and the cars you're comparing.
- To understand which cars, features and pages are useful, and to fix what isn't working.
- To measure interest in cars, dealers and review videos. We may share these numbers with dealers, carmakers, video creators and advertisers, but only as totals that don't identify anyone.
- To reply to your emails.
- To keep the site secure and to meet our legal obligations.
3. Cookies and browser storage
| Name | Set by | Purpose | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga, _ga_* | Google Analytics | Tells one visit from another so we can count visitors and sessions | Up to 2 years |
_clck, _clsk, CLID | Microsoft Clarity | Links page views into one session so clicks and scrolling can be replayed and summarised | Up to 1 year |
rr.* (local storage) | Right Ride | Remembers your state, your location if you allowed it, filters, finder answers and the cars you're comparing, on this device | Until you clear it |
rr-intro-seen (session storage) | Right Ride | Plays the opening animation only once per visit | Until you close the tab |
GoatCounter doesn't use cookies. You can block or delete cookies and site data in your browser settings; the site still works without them. To stop Google Analytics on every site, you can install Google's opt-out browser add-on.
4. Services we use
These companies process information for us, each under its own privacy policy:
- GitHub Pages hosts the website. Like any web host, it may log IP addresses to keep the service secure.
- Google Analytics (Google) measures visits and clicks. See how Google uses data from sites that use its services.
- Microsoft Clarity (Microsoft) records clicks, scrolling and mouse movement as anonymised session replays and heatmaps. Text you type into fields is masked. See the Microsoft privacy statement and how Clarity handles data.
- GoatCounter counts visits without cookies and without storing IP addresses.
- Google Forms (Google) stores the answers you send with "Give feedback".
- Google Fonts supplies the site's fonts, so your browser connects to Google's servers to load them.
- OpenStreetMap Nominatim looks up PIN codes when you search for showrooms.
- ImprovMX forwards email sent to info@rightride.in to our inbox, and Gmail (Google) stores it.
- Carmakers' websites may supply some car photos, so your browser may load images from their servers.
Some of these services may store or process data outside India.
5. Other websites
Right Ride links to carmakers, dealers, YouTube, Autocar India and Google Maps. When you follow a link, such as "Book a test drive", you leave Right Ride. Anything you enter on that site, like your name or phone number in a booking form, goes to that company, not to us, and its own privacy policy applies.
6. When we share information
We don't sell or rent personal data. We share information only:
- with the services listed above, so they can work for us;
- as totals that don't identify anyone, for example with dealers, carmakers, video creators or advertisers;
- when the law requires it, or to protect the rights, safety or security of our users, the public or Right Ride.
7. How long we keep it
- Google Analytics: event-level data is kept for the period set in our account, which is no longer than 14 months. Summary reports may be kept longer.
- Microsoft Clarity: session replays and heatmap data are kept by Microsoft for up to 13 months.
- GoatCounter: visit totals are kept for as long as the site runs. GoatCounter doesn't store IP addresses.
- Emails: kept for as long as we need them to deal with your message and for our records. Ask us and we'll delete them.
- Browser storage: stays on your device until you clear it.
8. Your rights and choices
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can ask us:
- what personal data we hold about you and how we use it;
- to correct, complete or update it;
- to delete it;
- to address a complaint about how we've handled it;
- to let someone you nominate exercise these rights for you.
Email info@rightride.in and we'll aim to reply within 30 days. We can't identify you from analytics data, so in most cases the only personal data we hold is in emails you've sent us. You can also turn off location access, block cookies or clear site data in your browser at any time.
9. Children
Right Ride is meant for adults buying a car. It isn't directed at children under 18, and we don't knowingly collect their personal data. If you think a child has sent us personal data, write to us and we'll delete it.
10. Security
The site is served only over HTTPS, and we keep the data we hold to a minimum. No website is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect what we have.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle information, for example by adding a new service, we'll update this page and the date at the top. For significant changes we'll also show a notice on the site.
12. Contact and grievances
For questions, requests or complaints about privacy, email info@rightride.in. If you aren't satisfied with our reply, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
